Secure Start® operates a Mental Health Triage Service for children and teenagers at the Belair office.
The purpose of a Mental Health Triage service for children and teenagers is to provide parents with a professional setting where they can discuss concerns held regarding their child or teen and receive professional advice about follow-up service needs and options.
Consultations through the Mental Health Triage service incorporate a brief interview of the parent (and child/teen) and the completion of screening questionnaires for common emotional and behavioural difficulties. A letter will be provided summarising the findings of the triage consultation and any recommended course of action.
Consultations are one hour in length, with the letter posted within seven days. The cost of accessing the service is $30 for pensioners and concession cardholders and $50 for all others. Medicare and private health rebates do not apply. The Mental Health Triage Service is staffed by Provisional Psychologists completing a Board-Approved supervision program under the supervision of Principal Clinical Psychologist, Colby Pearce.
